Challenge
A mains water failure during the policyholder’s absence resulted in prolonged water exposure, causing widespread internal damage. Lath and plaster ceilings collapsed, decorative cornices were lost, and bespoke joinery and hardwood finishes were significantly affected.
Solution
We undertook a full building survey and coordinated reinstatement from design through to delivery, including:
- Detailed assessment of damaged fabric
- Laboratory testing of plaster to replicate original composition
- Engagement of specialist trades for heritage restoration
- Commissioning of bespoke joinery to match existing installations
- Salvage, restoration, and relaying of hardwood flooring
A key element was the dismantling and reconstruction of the three-storey staircase, including replacement of spindles and installation of a bespoke hardwood handrail to match the original design.
